Excellent book for bereaved
Bought this by accident as loved the title and my friend who still wears a bikini at 68,has a dog and it's her birthday well ! I have very recently become a widow My husband died suddenly after being diagnosed six months previously with MND ( bulbar) Horrendous disease and he was courageous to the end. I was his full time carer and had family help, Marie Curie nurses came in for the last ten days everyone thought he would live longer so it was a shock., This book has been a wonderful insight and helped me grieve and laugh and cry . It is a fantastic read and the desriction of one of the bereavement counsellors had me giggling. As one that I met recently was just the same ( so I had to surpress chuckle when I spoke to her! I would recommend this book for anyone who is going through this personal trauma in their life. In fact I go to a choir were a lot of us are adjusting to,life and have now recommended it Ito others. Life after a loss
I wish this book had been published when i lost my husband, reading the book Helen detailed her feeling and moods following her loss, i went through the same things but didn't realise it was the grieving process, i felt at times i was going mad not understanding why. I would highly recommend this book especially after a loss as Helen said at the start of the book, even if you cant concentrate and read it all at once i know it will help. So buy the book even if you put it on a shelf and just leave it there, there will come a time when you can read it and i know it will help and will explain the way you feel as you do. It was a great sadness that Helen passed away as she did. Maybe not even realising how much her book would help others going through the loss of a loved one,in the future.
