Good - miss the motion snooze feature
Bought to replace an older model lost in recent SC flood. Loved the older model with motion "wave" snooze feature. This model is not as intuitive to set and the directions could have been better. Sounds like music from a tin can, very loud!
I thought the “raise to wake” feature would be nice, but the volume at level 1 is nearly too loud and doesn’t even give you time to reach over to shut it off or hit snooze before the volume increases to level 2 and then 3 within seconds of the alarm sounding. The speaker is poor quality and sounds as though the radio is playing out of a tin can. Another annoying feature is that the display brightness is controlled with the snooze button, so if you use the snooze you have to then readjust the brightness or be blinded at night! My last alarm lasted for 20 years... I don’t think I’ll be keeping this one that long. Sorry Emerson, I do not recommend.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

JUST OK.
I purchased this unit to replace an older version from 2005. This unit seems to work well. The display is large and easy to read. However, unlike the old unit, this one DOES NOT have the AM band! Why Emerson chose to delete the AM band, I do not know. It does have a USB port, so that you can charge your phone, but, this is not designed to interface with the unit. (Like being able to listen to your tunes from your phone, or the alarm) But, overall, the unit seems to work as designed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I bought to replace a Emerson smart alarm I bought over 10 years ago.
I can't say it isn't user friendly, but it isn't as easy to use as the last Emerson dual set smart clock I had bought over 10 years ago. CKS1708 AM/FM Clock Radio
This is an excellent AM/FM clock radio (model CKS1708), that I bought. It is the best that I have ever owned. By reading the instructions, it becomes easy to use. Many buttons are dual function buttons, & it takes time to learn all of the features. One thing that a purchaser needs to be aware of is the following; Emerson sells 2 different CKS1708 models. One is a FM only model, & the other is an AM/FM model, but they are both called CKS1708. I made this mistake earlier. I listen to mostly AM & I received the FM only model from an earlier seller. I wasn't happy about receiving the wrong item. I am very happy with this AM/FM clock radio, & I bought 2 of them. Most sellers aren't aware of the 2 different CKS1708 clock radios, so be careful when purchasing this item.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Wish it had a dimmer
The clock is great. I love the automatic adjustment but in the dark of night the blue display is brighter then I like. I wish it had a dimmer for use at bedtime. Sometimes I have to put it face down to avoid the brightness and then can't see the time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works great and has the perfect choices.
The bad: Even at the lowest setting the blue light is still a little bright. But I just turn it away from me a bit and it's okay. It doesn't bother my husband at all. I'm a bit picky about light in the room when I sleep. The good: You have choices of when the alarm goes off, meaning M-F, S-S or all 7 days and 2 different alarms. It synchs with the atomic clock and doesn't lose time! I haven't changed back from Daylight Savings yet, but I anticipate no problems. Tuning the radio is simple, choosing an alarm, Beep or Radio is also simple. The only other thing that's weird is that the tuner buttons (up and down) are also the way you set the alarm time but they're not as clearly marked as they could be. The manual is fairly easy to follow once you have the clock in front of you. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a dual alarm clock that keeps accurate time and doesn't cost an arm and a leg!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
