Best litter box by far. Much more sanitary than a regular one.

I didn't like my kids scooping a regular litter box. It just seemed unsanitary to me. But I want my children to learn to take care of their own animals. With this litter box my kids can clean the box without touching or putting their faces near the waste. The box is taller than most boxes. I would recommend not using a bag in the top part. It just seems easier and cleaner that way. You can use any bag in the bottom drawer that fits. I use the cheap jumbo pan liners. Easy to take apart and clean when needed. I just took it apart and cleaned it this evening. It doesn't use much litter (about 11 lbs). About 2 inches in the pan. I use it for 4 cats and as long as it gets sifted every time someone goes into the bathroom it seems to do fine. I like the fact that it doesn't cost any more than the litter and bags for the bottom tray which would be needed with any litter box. Definitely worth the 70.00.

    Nice idea but...

While the Idea is nice and I did not think there was a snowballs chance in hell, I was going to get my 16 year old cat to use it. She did get the idea of having to jump up into this big plastic, enclosed, tub, after I followed the directions to acclimate cats to it. The issues I have with it are... you need 2 different sized plastic bags for in the box and in the drawer below, the grate that sifts the litter to separate the waste from the litter will get clogged with clumped litter, if your cat decides he/she wants to pee on that side of the box (and mine does), you still have to use a scoop to brake off the clumps of litter from the bag because the sometimes, if not always get stuck and even after pulling the handle they stay in the top area and will not fall into the drawer, So the video they show you on how perfect the box separates the litter from the waste, is not exactly true. There is more work involved. After using Pet Safe for several years until my cat kept peeing over the side and braking the automatic box, I think this will work but the area does not smell as clean as it did, when I used Pet Safe. Seems if your cat pees near the side of the box it flows down into the drawer and collects there and does start to smell. To remedy this I put some extra litter in the drawer to soak up the extra urine. I have also thought about trying the box without the bag in the upper part to see if it urine would not stick to the bottom and save on buying MORE bags. Have not tried it yet though. I have really found that no automatic litter box, is perfect and most will brake because of poor design or cheap manufacturing. This box I really believe will not break but it is not perfect ether and is more work than a electric powered litter box.

  • Self Cleaning Litter Box worth the money!

If you are looking for a mess free, scoopless cat litter box then this is for you! Although it is quite large, it is very easy to use and effortless! Just turn the lever and the cat waste falls into the bottom compartment bag and you just throw the bag away and replace it. This is great for pregnant women who are not supposed to scoop out soiled litter, you will have no concerns with this process. And this also allows to keep the litter box cleaned out more often, especially if you have multiple cats.

  • Good construction, and works as described. However it seems a little small inside.

When I got the box (very quick btw), it was enormous. I guess looking online its hard to tell, but it is nearly twice the overall size of my oversized cat box. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because the size is misleading. The engineering is superb, however the actual area given to the cat to do his business is like 1/4 of the overall litterbox, and the catch drawer is easily the same size (which maybe it shouldnt be as you might empty this frequently d/t odors). My cats do use it, but my largest cat wont due to the interior space. She is only 6-7 lbs, but old and tall. Its a great idea, but maybe version 2 should make the hood taller and/or make the litterbox deeper? Again, thanks for the speedy shipping!

  • Not for the faint of cats...

I loved the whole idea and concept of this litterbox, but everytime either of my cats (whom are thin and not even remotely overweight) jumped into it - the inside litter box would shake out of place and the cats became scared to go in them and refused to use them after a week or so. Sad that it didn't work out... I had boughten 2 of them and they both worked this way :(

  • Geat idea but falls short

A little too flimsy. had to hold the unit down to flip the litter container. This might be good for some cats but did not work for mine. I have one cat who pee's so much it drips down into the drawer and gets all over the inside of the box. Needed to take the whole unit apart almost everyday to clean, which is not quite that easy. Works great for the poop but not so much for the pee.

  • Box works good

This works fine you have to use good litter that actually clumps pull the lever slowly and you can see the litter separate from the nasty stuff and it will fall into the lower drawer forget about the bag in the top pan it catches litter in the folds our cats make a game of tearing it as well so just pull it out and wash it when you change the litter and remember to add more to keep the level up but I like lower drawer and bag. Less handling of cat poop and you can keep your cats .

  • Litter

My cat drinks a LOT of water and therefore pees a lot creating huge clumps of litter. Super duper hamburg patties size. And she likes to pee in the corners. so i sometimes have to work at loosening it a little so it can fall out. but like it, just have a weird cat.

  • Saving time and mess

I'm moving to a new home. One of my cats "misses" the traditional litter pans. I was afraid I would have to make him an outside cat. This self-cleaning litter pan has solved the problem. It was inexpensive compared to others. While it can get clogged up sometimes, it is a simple matter to fix. I understand the expensive self-cleaning pans have similar issues. I am very happy. The distributor was very helpful and followed up when I didn't receive it because of an issue with the post office. No big deal, but he really followed through.

  • I researched cat boxes and ...

I can clean 3 of these boxes in less than 10 minutes. The big draws hold about 3 days worth so I have to spend an extra 10 minutes every 3 days. I worked around the latch problem with my own latch. The filter on top was a cat toy but over all this is the best choice. The big drawer in the bottom is the best selling point. It slides out easy unlike some other units. IF you have a lot of cats and not much time, this is your best choice.
