It did the job... for a while
Updated once the unit was used more:
We live off grid and I bought this as either a replacement or backup for our Honda Pramac (depending on what was wrong with it!). I was swayed by the price, customer reviews and the German connection: so far, so good.
It is lightweight yet suggests strength. I had to adapt a British extension lead so it could run off the connector that comes with the set, and wondered about a starter handle that pulls up towards the control board. The starter pulls to the side and still works: it's too soon yet to know if this drastically shortens the life of the pull chord. Later: well now I know that it does shorten it, so I drilled a hole in the metal so that the chord could pull parallel to the crankcase. Despite plastic inserts to protect the chord from the edge of the hole, there have been occasional problems with breakage.
Our most important need is the submersible water pump - no electric will soon mean no water. The circuit breaker on the Honda often trips when we have the pump on but the Eberth (same KVA) ran the pump without bother. I have decided to use the petrol Eberth for pumping and our gas-converted Honda for everything else. Later: The worst thing is that, after not THAT many hours of use, the set does not produce electricity! Having checked fuses and looked for burnt out wiring, I gave up.
