    Great video and stills camera

While mostly purchased for video use, it's also inspired me to get back into photography a bit. Image quality is good, and though it won't be stunning at low light due to the 1" sensor size, it does a pretty terrific job for taking video of the live theater shows that comprises 75% of its use. While autofocus isn't great, I generally use manual for video anyway, so not a real issue. Many, many features, very customizable, and the 4k files allow me to zoom into areas in post if needed, without a noticeable loss of quality. Recommended as an all-arounder for both video and stills.

Quality Camera \ Not Good in Low Light.

The problem is low light basically room light that is even but low, (lamp light). It cannot find a good focus and the shutter speed becomes too slow. If you try to up the ISO the image quality suffers. If you are shooting in daylight the performance and quality is great. If you shoot at night where you have good contrast with lit subjects you can get some great manual shots. Which is why all the ad photos are in daylight or evening with high contrast bright spots in the low light scene.

  • Great Value in an All in One package!

As an event videographer, I'm looking for versatility, image quality, video quality and ease of setup and use and this camera feels like a great alternative to the camcorders I'm used to using. I use the Sony AX100 and the AX53 camcorders and I'm willing to say that at the lowest bit rate of 28Mbs, the FZ2500 looks better and has a better image quality. The in body stabilization or IBIS is really good and handheld footage at long zooms is possible. In concert lighting in a theater, the image is fast to focus and does not drift. Slow zooms are kept in focus. Only when zooming quickly does it lose tracking and then quickly catches up after a quick zoom. I tried extreme low light focus testing and it seems to do a good job if not hunting. In a dark room, I pointed the camera at a black wall to attempt to make the camera go out of focus and quickly panned to a computer monitor and it it quickly found focus! It so much faster at finding focus than the Sony AX100 with a similar 1" sensor. There are also many different ways to zoom in in this camera. There is zoom lever by the shutter button that is a way of zooming quickly. The zoom ring for subtle brief adjustments, and the Fn1 and Fn2 buttons for slow tight and wide zooms. The slowest setting in the Fn1 and Fn2 buttons is more like a creeping zoom. The medium speed is nice a smooth and still feels slower than Sony zoom. I still need to experiment with the 4K footage. So I can't comment on it. But if it's anything like the HD, I'm sure it's great. I own a Gh2, two GH4 cameras, a G85, Lx100 and a variety of great lenses. This is not a low light monster but for well lit scenes or even high contrast scenes, this camera is great. The Lumix menus are the same across the cameras and the stabilizer features are similar to that of the G85. I look for continuous video recording because I do some much event work and this camera can do that. It also has a battery door where a pigtail from a dummy battery can be inserted when I plan on using a wall adapter for extended recording of events in a stationary environment. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the Panasonic lineup and this camera is no exception. Final thoughts: This camera is a keeper and a welcome addition to my collection. I plan of doing some travel videos soon and I'm sure a majority of my daytime scenes are going to be shot using this camera! I would recommend this camera to someone who needs a really strong all in one kind of camera with a built in super zoom! Perhaps I should add the vlog option as well.

  • Great camera - great buy on eBay.

Image quality improvement over my Panasonic FZ300 is easy to see when you zoom in on the image. Giving up a little zoom (down from 600 to 480) is worth the sharper image. The Ai auto focus is similarly quite good on both FZ cameras. Learning curve wasn’t much for me, considering I don’t need or want embellishments - just great pictures. Camera is a little bigger so a new camera bag is required. Smaller hands may still prefer the FZ300 though. Happy camper here.

  • BETTER THAN NIKON P-1000

THIS CAMERA ARRIVED INTACT AND ON TIME. YES I WOULD BUY FROM SELLER AGAIN. AS FOR THE CAMERA , THIS THING IS GREAT!!!! THIS HAS THE MAGNIFICATION THAT EXCEEDS THE NIKON P-1000 WHICH HAS A 3000MM MAGIFICATION . THE FZ2500 I JUST BOUGHT HAS A APPROX 3100MM MAGNIFICATION , WITH A BIGGER SENSOR A 1INCH SENSOR AS OPPOSED TO A 1/3.2 SENSOR NIKON P-1000 HAS. I WILL SAY TO GET GREAT PICS AT THIS MAGNIFICATION YOU WILL HAVE TO ANCHOR YOUR TRIPOD DOWN TO DO IT.LOVE THE ND FILTERS BUILT IN THE CAMERA, LOVE THE DYNAMIC ZOOM AND DIGITAL ZOOM ON THIS THING, THATS HOW I AM ABLE TO PULL OFF 3100MM MAGNIFICATION IF I NEED IT. GREAT IN LOW LIGHT,HAS A FAST AUTOFOCUS SYSTEM, SO FAST YOU DON'T NEED TO SETUP BACK BUTTON FOCUSING , UNLESS YOU WANT TO. THIS IS SOMETHING I FOUND OUT IN THE MANUAL THAT NO ONE MENTIONS WHEN SELLING THIS CAMERA , IS ITS FAST AUTO FOCUSING SYSTEM.ALL I DO IS TURN THE CAMERA ON,,ITS ALREADY FOCUSING CONTINOUSLY, I PUT IT TO MY EYE OR LOOK AT SCREEN,I PUSH SHUTTER HALF WAY,PIC IS ALREADY TAKEN, THIS WILL EVEN WORK IN BURST MODE AS WELL, 4K MOVIES ON THIS THING IS AWESOME.NEED A VIDEO CAMERA...THIS IS IT....DOWNSIDE......IT IS A BEAST, ITS HEAVY SOMEWHAT........BUT YOU GET USED TO IT.....I DID......I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ....LASTLY ITS A FIXED LENS 24-480MM...ENJOY

  • An excellent bridge camera with many unexpected features

Wonderful Electronic Viewfinder with adjustable diopter for those of us with eyesight not as good as it used to be. Improved manual focus assist (fz1000 had manual zoom and manual focus on the same ring - the fz2500 has given manual focus its own ring and improved the feature!) Beautiful big touch screen with features I have only begun to explore. And so much more to learn! I loved the fz1000 and now also the fz2500. The fz2500 for me - the fz1000 for my husband.

  • A package deal (you need batteries, SD card, lighting, microphone and tripod) for around $1000. Then your ready to go!

Really nice bridge/all in one camera. I like the lumix platform, although it is very complex.. enough time and I'm sure I will be at Intermediate level.

  • Very capable, requires serious learning.

A very capable camera which requires some serious learning and training on part of the user. It is somewhat heavy, but that's to be expected with the superzoom lens that has the specs that this one has. It's comfortable to hold and very responsive once you get to know how to use it's capabilities. Excellent for video work!

  • Excellent cammera except . . .

It is a good camera except in one respect. I have owned only mechanical-zoom cameras and never a zoom-by-wire such as this one. I don't like its lagging, spongy zoom at all so I returned it after a few days. If you aren't bothered by this kind of behavior, then it is otherwise a great camera.

  • Image quality issue

This FZ2500 that I just purchased had image quality issues. I shot a series of the same images with this FZ2500 and my FZ1000 that I intended to replace with this FZ2500. Unfortunately all of the FZ2500 images that were beyond a few feet were noticably softer (less sharp) than the comparable FZ1000 image results. I have had very favorable experence with four Lumix cameras that I have had over the last ten years. Based on my Lumix camera experience, I suspect that this particular FZ2500 just has an image flaw. I have just returned it to the shipper.
