About this product

Product Information

A lone space marine battles an onslaught of demonic creatures in this Super NES version of the computer classic, Doom. Use your fists or equip one of seven weapons, from a pistol and shotgun to a chainsaw and rocket launcher, to battle groups of imps, zombies, and other hell spawn. Ride elevators, throw switches, and collect keycards to advance through 22 levels, each adapted from the computer game. Unlike the 1993 original, Doom for Super NES lacks a save feature and cooperative play. Four-player deathmatches are supported, however, locally via split-screen display and online through the Xband modem and network.

    Still great!

The SNES is a little slow and delayed, but it's still great for gameplay! The music hands down stands out better than any other platform for Doom. A great addition for any game players library!

Good graphics and unique cartridge but the game was not worth keeping.

The red cartridge looks good and the graphics were decent. The cons were the cost, had to replace the SNES back label sticker because the original was in rather bad shape, I couldn't get past the first stage along with encountering no animate opponents, and so I decided to sell to Universal Collectibles though it was considerably less than the $23.99 price that I paid for with the added cost of $3.25 for the replacement label purchased to replace the original SNES back sticker.

  • I see so you have never played Doom then..

Wow I remembered this as a child my buddy saying how great Doom was I was like yeah back in 93 on DOS. As with all shooters on Super Nintendo this is awful pretty much unplayable random frame drop collision errors no ai, no draw distance. The sound track is ok better than most of the one on Saturn sounds are similar bit worse. Graphics abysmal the only thing you can actually see is the hud enemies once they "hear you" will just attack off screen making no sound. No menu or demo at all and it plays at some freaky resolution way below original so its in a small box taking up half the screen. Unless your a Nintendo fanboy dont try to play this you can get a lot more for 20 bucks elsewhere. I've played every mainstream version and the rare Sega Saturn version this is worst.

  • I love the SNES version of Doom!

This game is slow and plodding compared to the PC version, but that just makes it less action and more survival-horror. And the music in the SNES version is much better than those primitive, thin midi files that pass for music in the PC version. This game is awesome.

  • Not a perfect port, but its still a fun way to experience a classic game.

I get why some people aren't fond of this version, but I enjoy most ports of Doom and its quite impressive

  • Good

The only point of owning this is collecting. If you want good graphics and controls, play the PS1 version
