  • Good but not as to apply as suggested

The product is very good in dispelling moisture and protecting metal parts from further rust damage. The down side is the difficulty in getting the spray to operate consistently as it will block up in the applicator unless it is very thinned down by white spirit and kept quite warm. Brush application is possible but even more messy. Prepare to get dirty doing this job. Overall I would recommend getting a garage to do this using their air compressor gun- you just supply the materials

  • For me, the best product of it's type on the market

Been using waxoyl for over 25 years and if applied correctly is an incredible product. I always heat it up until it is 100% liquid before spraying with a schutz gun. Never let me down and with a 1m tube you can also inject in to every vehicle cavity for ultimate protection. I usually re-coat after 4-5 years and can definitely say it works very well.

  • WAXOYL APPLICATION

I've been using waxoyl for as long as I can remember and can only describe it as brilliant stuff. It isn't meant to sprayed under arches etc because it will eventually get washed off by weather or pressure washing. I spray it into box sections doors and sills etc. I've seen a lot of comments about difficulty in spraying however with the right gun its easy although you do have to heat it to a reasonable temperature, try on a hot day it makes it so much easier. I have a underbody gun from machine mart which the smaller can will screw on too. I then heat that and refill from the larger can. I have a VW T4 van and its been waxoyled to death and looks like new. I removed all the door and sill plugs and took out the arch liners inside the vehicle and sprayed it into every nook and cranny. Just wear old clothes because it can be a bit messy.

  • Great product

Used it for years! Thin with white spirit, warm it up, use on a warm day, protect areas and yourself, spray & forget. Great for chassis box sections, door and boot lid internals. Use on a new car to put years on the bodywork.

  • Difficult to spray

I have been using Waxoyl for years and it is effective at holding back rust. Particularly useful for spraying inside chassis box sections, and other inaccessible places like the bottoms of doors. It is not so good in wheel arches unless you do it regularly as it does eventually get washed off. But, it is difficult to spray. This time I used a compressor with a paraffin gun. Standing the can in a bowl of very hot water (as recommended) thins it down nicely but it still has lumps in it which vigorous shaking (as recommended) does NOT break up. Adding some white spirit thins it further, which is not really needed, but still does not dissolve the lumps, Using an old blender would be ideal! I think next time I will heat it and then pour it through a sieve to make spraying it quicker and easier but I might end up with a lot of lumps left over which seems a waste.

  • rust preventative that's so easy to use

I've used waxoyl before to great effect. Easy to apply. If it's cold, warm it a bit first. If it gets 'gashed' it will creep back! lasts a long time, Really does a good job protecting vulnerable metal work.

  • hammerite waxoyl

i have used this stuff for years and its great when you coat rusty parts it cant stop rust but it slows it down if you coat your car with it will add years onto the life of your cars bobywork if you change your own tyres cleas the metal wheel rims and coat them with waxoyl then the rims wont be rusty the next time you change your tyre before you use the waxoyl alwayys heat it up it goes easy and when it hits the cold metal it waxes this is the best you can get

  • Tried and trusted

I’ve been a user of Waxoyl for many years to protect my classic cars. I think it’s a great product; the clear variety can be used under wings, etc without hiding a painted finish whilst the black one is great for refreshing old and dried under-seal. Just a shame the vehicle manufactures of the classic car era didn’t use it! If spraying it on using an air compressor, I’d strongly recommend using a chemical filter mask and disposable overall with hood.

  • Good value easy to use car body protection.

Easy to use brush on rust inhibitor, though a bit messy if you apply with brush as I do. Inexpensive; half a can does the whole of the underside of Ford Transit van. Can arrived very quickly, well packaged.

  • The original rust protection and still going strong.

I have been using this product for 40yrs, and will continue to do so. As an owner of old and classic cars, it is a great help in maintaining them in top condition. The oil is still available in the same 5L tins, without any gimmicks or fancy packaging and the successful formula appears not to have changed. After jet-washing road dirt/salt/grit and applying rust converter, waxoil then provides long-lasting protection. It is the best product for spraying inside doors, sills, chassis members and other difficult to access places. It is best used in Summer, when much easier to use as a free-flowing liquid, otherwise requiring heating. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.
