    Great product.

Perfect just what I needed, really does the job. I deal on brand new shoes. Thanks. Please note it will not let me answer the set answers. It is a excellent product. I do recommend it and it is value for money.

  • Most critical review

    Beware the plastic washer.

The shoe stretcher works both length and widthways. When I very first used it I must have opened the gap widthways and when I tightened the long screw for increasing the length a plastic washer that is next to the back of the wooden foot part, split as it was being screwed into the gap. This plastic washer is not strong enough for too much pressure, so ensure it is centralised and the widthways gap in the wooden foot part is not too big. The previous shoe stretcher that I'd bought on eBay had to be returned and I couldn't be bothered to return these, but if you do buy them, be very careful about tightening the screw to avoid splitting the plastic washer.

  • Nice design, shame about the materials used to make it.

Good - Its well designed and in smaller shoes does an ok job of stretching them both length and width, you need to soften the leather with mink oil or lanolin and then put the stretcher in. You tighten it as far as it will go and then leave it for a week after that try the shoes on, if they still hurt repeat the above until the shoes feel ok. Bad - Advert said it will widen size 9-10 shoes, it doesn't really do that unless you put doubled up newspaper inside the shoe for the wooden part of the stretcher to lean against. The wood used in the stretcher's foot and heal parts is softwood which can easily be dented or broken, it should have been hardwood. The central screw is made of good quality metal but the nuts on it can easily ware out, so I'm looking for metal nuts of the same diameter to replace them. The cone at the tip of the central screw between the two pieces of wood can come off, even if you glue it on so you need to try and really tighten it up. The nut used to push the wooden heal to lengthen it is also made of plastic and can wear out so needs to be replaced with a metal one. A large 50p size metal washer needs to placed between the nut and the wooden heel for more surface area to allow the heel to be pushed back properly by the nut without marking the wooden heal. The above things have let this item down as the design is great.

  • Shoe

Bought to widen low heel boots and not really suitable. Quite simple to use. End fell off the metal rod and doesn't seem to have enough range to widen my size 9.5. Will be going to the cobblers when open

  • Does the job but flawed design means you will have to take it apart and re-assemble.

I stretched synthetic shoes and trainers by inserting the stretchers and applying a heat gun. It has worked well. The product has a design flaw: the pointed plastic tip which spreads the two halves apart is glued on to the threaded rod. When you unscrew the rod to remove the stretcher, the wooden halves grip the tip, the glue breaks and it unscrews from the rod, leaving the two halves spread and stuck in the shoe. Struggled to remove the parts and had to use a screwdriver to dismantle it, re-attached the tip and re-assembled.

  • Well-Made Shoe Stretchers

Very good quality shoe stretchers and simple to use. The additional plastic adjustable push in pieces are useful, but I felt they could be made wider and with a more tapered edge so as not to create a lump on the outer shoe. Apart from that the wooden expanders on their own are excellent.

  • It works for stretching but not resizing!

This product better suits if you buy shoes that are slightly rubbing. It will not turn a size 7 shoe into a size 8. For example you buy the correct size but find they are sore and need to be broken in well this tool will do the job nicely. The quality is both good and not so good, best used without force or being boisterous. If used correctly for stretching but not resizing this should be ideal for you. Just don’t use them for other than a stretch or bits will fall off due to trying to resize which I wouldn’t recommend. Overall it’s a must have if used correctly and only for stretching.

  • OK......but just OK

The product worked OK but it is fairly lightweight in terms of the strength needed to stretch a pair of mens shoes. The width mechanism has a tendency to result in the end 'stopper' unscrewing when you disconnect the mechanism. The length mechanism is only just big enough for what I would consider to be a size 10 shoe.

  • Good product consisting of two (2) stretchers.

Item arrived earlier than expected, seems to be well made (of softwood) and works well, it would have been better if supplied with more than 2 plastic 'blisters' to clip in per shoe. The main "nut" on the mechanism used to expand the two halves, really should be metal, and not a plastic(nylon) nut, I feel this may fail over time.

  • They do the job!

These are good value but...the long black rod on one of the stretchers came unglued upon first use! I managed to re-glue it using epoxy resin and it has been alright since. Although I have given a positive for quality, in truth I would say the quality is reflected in the price! But they do work, only time will tell how long they will last.
