Simple at what it does, but does that thing well
You often get what you pay for with these sorts of kitchen gadgets but this thermometer performs well for the cost. Simple in use, very sensitive to changes in heat, it isn't built like a rock but it doesn't feel too flimsy or plasticy either. I've no regrets in buying it and if you want a simple cheap thermometer then you can't go wrong (unless you're unlucky and get a defective unit, which is always a small chance when dealing with these sorts of mass produced cheap units).Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Unreliable
Bought two thermometers. Getting random readings when making jam so have tried using both and comparing - they give different readings. Haven’t yet tried replacing the batteries. Simple and Effective
You switch it on, you stick it into something and it shows you the temperature. Simple, straightforward, not complicated. And it is sensitive enough to start returning to the original temperature pretty much as soon as it is withdrawn. I like the "hold" feature which allows the recorded temperature to stay on-screen until cancelled. If I have one criticism, it's the instructions. Why on earth do these Chinese companies insist upon using a translator who doesn't actually speak English? I have had one of these thermometers for ages and it is brilliant. I know when my meat joints are cooked and when reheated food is hot enough as well as all sorts of other cooking applications. Works for jams and jellies
Seems accurate - identified jam / jelly setting temperatures. But also wanted it for checking temperature in a wine fridge for hibernating tortoise - not so accurate. Slightly annoying that it keeps switching itself off after a short time so you need to keep clicking it on again - not easy if you're stirring jam!
