Swing Away Spare Wheel Carrier Traditionally Land Rovers store the spare wheel on the back door, but these can be very heavy, especially when you've got mud tyres fitted. The additional weight wears out the hinges too and can damage the door panel over time too. The solution is to fit a swing away spare wheel carrier. These transfer the weight onto the rear cross member. This doesn't have any fiddly catches either, its connected to the rear door too, so you can open and close the door as usual without causing damage or hassle. These will fit all hard top Series 2, 2A, 3 and Defenders with a rear door fitted. We do have versions available if you have a drop down tailgate. If you have alloy wheels you'll also require the large nuts that the wheel sits against, which we have .

Heavy duty product
Good product , easily supports my sister wheel which is much heavier than standard. It’s a 285 off road wheel so very big and heavy My rear door did not have a plate fitted previously and as such did not have any holes. Could do with a template and support back plate for people fitting to a virgin door . Great product , a template would have made fitting much quicker. A back plate had to be created as a support . Landrover wheel carrier
This is a sturdy and heavy product. The instructions to fit it are pretty poor especially on fitting the door plate. I think what is needed is some kind of template to work to as I was reluctant to start drilling the back door, Some of the fitting required a 2nd person when trying to bolt on the main swing bracket, as the door gets in the way of fitting the bolts and the weight is difficult to hold. Having said this now it is fitting it does the job perfectly. Some people might have found it easier but I feel sure it is not due to the instructions.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
