Great for small birds
I ended up some years ago using these neat items in an effort to allow only the small birds to feed, because most other types seem to be hi-jacked by pigeons, crows, magpies etc. They give the small birds a 'perch' around the feed because surprisingly few birds can hover. These also allow one to recycle most empty used plastic fizzy drink bottles such as Coke or Pepsi 2l but do check that they fit first as some bottles have a different screw thread and top diameter. I use an old soldering iron to put two holes in the bottle and fill the bottle then hang it up, but I try to hang it where there are no strong branches around the feeder (just an overhead one) or the big birds will cling to the branches and swipe all the feed and so do squirrels occasionally. If it rains heavily, the seed tray may become damp, but of course the bulk of the seed remains dry up in the body of the bottle, so just remove the tray carefully, saving the seed from escaping the bottle, clean the tray and screw it back on to put out again when it's dry.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

For me, it didn't work.
This is a hard one. It's advertised for seeds, and is probably fine for this.....However, I wanted it for dried worms for the little birds.The idea is fine, but on using the worms,everything got clogged up at the bottle neck owing to the weight of the filled bottle. Bird food bar
Fits cola and washing up liquid bottles amongst many others. I started with a cola bottle but found the local crows could empty the whole giant bottle of seed in no time covering the grass below to the delight of the local pigeons. I found the washing up liquid bottle limited that ability. The seed flows well. All of my feeders have clear plastic seed holders which harden in the ultra-violet sunlight and after a while they crack and leak. None are cheap and with these devices I can replace the seed holder with discarded household plastic. Good for the environment and good for the pocket.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Brilliant: just needs a small adjustment.

So far so good
Easily fits to Aldi soda bottles and should keep the sunflower hearts dry when it rains - the birds are using the new feeders after only a day - have coated the bottles with olive oil in an attempt to stop squirrels but haven't seen one try to get at them yet as only been up a couple of days.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
