I love this collection of reworked outtakes from the recording of the Division Bell, the last Floyd album to feature the wonderful keyboard work of Richard Wright. Richard had been kicked out of Floyd by Roger during the recording of The Wall, subsequently returning as a paid musician for the tour. He did not record again with the others until the "comeback album" A Momentary Lapse of Reason. It was obvious that he was not just back up to the amazing standard he reached on Animals on that album. Something that could not be said about the Division Bell, where he really hit stride again. I love his work and the significant contribution to the Floyd sound that Richard made and therefore find this collection of instrumental outtakes, edited wonderfully, a real treat. Each of the tracks has a different vibe and Richard touches base with most of the styles and sounds that he had worked up whilst in Floyd, from pre-Darkside organ sounds, through Animals synths and on to the ambient as favored on the Division Bell in places. Superb packaging and a wonderfully smooth silky feel outer cover(no other record I have feels like this one, sounds weird but makes sense if you have ever held a copy), top quality photos and super graphics. Sonically superlative. As good as it gets. Some have cruelly called it Floyd Lite, but they must be missing Rogers moaning and, at times, self-pitying lyrics. I don't. The one song here is as good as any of the post- Rodge Floyds get. Read full review
