  • Exhilarating, one of the best series so far ...

Having seen series 11 and 12 and loved them, I haven't been this full of anticipation for a series since the classic Who days. I loved series 1, but could not watch it properly back then. I have only just got into it properly now with Jodie's era. However, I don't watch tv, so I had to see it on dvd, but I had to wait a long time, since I wanted and ordered the U.S. edition, because I preferred the packaging and it cost a fortune, but I didn't care. I also just knew that I would like it. I had seen clips and trailers on youtube, but that was it. I also knew it was one story across six chapters and I admired something different. Then, I got it and I loved it. The opening Chapter gets it off to a flying, exhilarating start and from there, it continues. The stand-out chapter for me is Chapter Four: Village of the Angels. I have never been able to see the weeping angels in action, because they were featured when I wasn't watching Dr Who. I always felt like I had missed out on them, since they sounded like really cool monsters and they looked creepy as hell. I found out early on that the weeping angels as well as most other monsters would be featured in the new series 13 and that was great. The episode/chapter was everything I hoped for and more. The weeping angels however (spoiler alert), also appeared in the first chapter, which was also brilliant. Having seen Doctor Who: Flux, series 13, I can now say that the wait was more than worth it. To have a single story split over a course of episodes/chapters as a serial, is something they haven't done since The Trial of a Time Lord, but those episodes were 25 minutes. The chapters in Flux are about an hour, so it is like an epic six hour movie. And what a movie! A word here also about the villian. A great show or movie needs a great villian and I think Swarm is a brilliant villian, one of the best that Dr Who has ever had. He is merciless, creepy, but powerful. A truly superb villian. Yes, Doctor Who series 13, Flux is one of the best series of Doctor Who and a third great series for Jodie. I know that she is seen next in some specials, which is great and want to see them as soon as possible. Jodie is leaving soon, but it's a fond, sad farewell, because I don't want to lose her. She will go out with a bang though and series 13 was a worthy final series for her. Thanks for everything, Jodie. Brilliant.
