Unsure if this is a limited edition only for Christmas - certainly its a fairly pricy one, however I must tell you its a box worth every penny you spend on it so if wondering if its worth it the answer is a positive YES.
There are 25 chocolates in total supposedly vegan/GF/dairy free/ but ultimately DIVINE and delicious. They are all dark chocolates (but they never taste just like dark chocolate) and the contents will have everyone (not just the afflicted) diving for them and squabbling over who gets what. There are 2 special boxes this black patterned and also a red patterned one. This one is the alcoholic box of the two specials (not that it contains many that are alcoholic) but I guess that makes it then the box for grown ups in that respect.
Alcoholic Chocolates:
Firstly there is the Fine de Champagne. Now I don't know if Booja realise this but Fine de Champagne is NOT Champagne, it is a region in France for fine Cognac. As a Cognac drinker I not only can tell this but also appreciate the contents because it is not champagne. Those looking for Champagne are going to be disappointed however so I think Booja need to change that and make it clearer that this chocolate contains Cognac NOT Champagne or otherwise make it into a Champagne truffle going forward.
Secondly is the Cherry Cognac - This is only currently available in this box (as of Xmas 2023) and are offered as the new loglets just introduced. Oh boy are they good!. They are like fat Matchmakers, about the same length and rolled in chocolate flakes. You get just 2 of them but I think of all the choccies in the box these are my favourites.
Thirdly is the Rhubarb and Ginger Gin - I love both flavours here and they work together very well. It has the tartness combined with ginger that just works with these heavenly chocolates.
Non Alcoholic Chocolates:
Almond Salted Caramel (yum) Salted Caramel Mocha (a kind of coffee/toffee mix and its Super Yum) Chocolate Orange (a grown up version not those vile sweet pastes found in most orange chocolates and this one uses Mandarin) Hazelnut Crunch, Gingered Toffee Apple - (Just scrumptious and with stem ginger)
As well as being safe for all except those with nut allergies, these are also organic and I think to date have won now about 29 awards in the last 15 years. That to me is pretty impressive. They are also still independent and that is a mega reason to support them and keep them that way. I am a Coeliac but I give these to everyone and I have yet to find a single person who doesn't just adore them and most of my recipients can and do eat everything but still chose these given the option.
This is how chocolate should taste and long may it continue to. Thank you Booja Booja.
