This is a small wet vac for dealing with spills and small areas of accidents on carpets and hard floors. Mains powered with a decent length of cable it performs well for the job it was intended to do. Cleaning a full carpet is possible but would be hard work. Mine was bought to deal with puppy accidents and did the job to perfection. It also cleaned my SUV carpets (muddy footprints) and the inevitable lanolin marks from where the dog squeezes past chairs, doorways and the like. It is not exactly lightweight when full of water, but it is small enough to carry easily (I am 81) and the suction hose is an adequate length. Fantastic bit of kit, bought one brand new from Vax but had an issue with the hose after about 20 months, it cracked. Vax refused point blank to help they just wanted me to buy a new one all for the sake of a small part hence buying this one off eBay, moved all my units working parts over and got on with my life. I highly recommend the product unfortunately the supplier, Vax are worse than useless
