Good value high performance
Whenever I look to buy a new laptop, I always look at videos on Youtube to see how easy they are to upgrade in terms of memory and SSD capacity as I know at some point in the future I will want to upgrade. I was really surprised to see that there is a spare 2.5” SSD bay. All that’s required is an ASUS SATA ribbon cable to connect one. Also there is a standard memory socket, so that you can upgrade to 20gb. There is a non-replaceable 4gb hard wired onto the motherboard already and you can’t change that, but with a 16gb DDR4 module, you can get 20gb. That’s what sold it to me. In use, it is as I expected… very fast to start up and fast to load applications. The available memory is just below 8gb which is much better than some other models I looked at which ‘borrow’ some RAM for graphics, leaving you with between 6 and 7 gb. Keyboard is fairly tactile with no bouncing and the mouse is responsive. Screen and graphics are very clear. It has an Intel i5 (10 generation) processor, which means you get quad core, but 8 logical processors!! Sorry if I am sounding like a geek.
The only downside I have come across so far is the quality of the web cam… it’s not very good but does improve with strong lighting. Although that could be me squinting because of the bright light!
