If you're looking for some goodtime music, here it is!
I've known about the Globs since 1978, sadly after they'd broken up, but their music has been an integral part of my life as a listener and as a musician since then and it's great to have their collected works on a couple of CDs. Sadly, I do have a quibble. The mastering is not as good as I would have hoped, my vinyl is better mastered. Don't let that put you off and it's the only reason I've given it 4 stars, the music is 5 stars all the way.
How would I describe their music? Considering they lived in a hippy commune, there is surprisingly little hippy music on the albums apart from the words. They mainly had a fusion of RnB (in the old sense), jazz and pop rock, with some singalong tunes, even anthems! The goodtime music is of the highest goodtime quality and although there is some navel gazing, it's kept to a minimal, so I feel good after listening, I feel a happier person. Which is exactly what the Globs wanted!
For me its a band i listened to at free festivals in the early 1970s.At the time ,nothing like them or the audiences they attracted.I feel privilaged to own their music, thankyou
