The quality of the acting is very good and the scenes are well put together. The lead character (Jude Law) alternates between moments of seeming love and compassion on one hand and pure Machiavellian evil on other. Overall the character tends more toward the latter and the DVDs exploit this situationalist dogma as merely typical of the Medieval European schemes, intrigues, plots shoe-horned by juxtaposing the contradictions of global 21st century semi-autonomous polictical and religious hemogenies. There is the evil, conservative, egocentric vision of The Young Pope's world with no thought for the consequences of the hate he will inevitably generate for non-catholics and the "Africs".
