I got the latest VR 11 version
Kit lenses have always received a bad press but this Nikon one, especially the versions with VR (vibration reduction) has a better reputation than most. Attached to Nikon's 3000 or 5000 series DSLRs, it makes a lightweight walk around lens that feels good with my small lightweight Nikon D5500. Initial results look pretty sharp, at least as judged on computer screen, see the professional reviews for more details. This is a lens aimed at amateur enthusiasts, there will always be a better one for a lot more money and weighing a lot more :-) I didn't mark this as durable, it is entirely made of plastic, if you drop it, it will break, but I have never dropped a lens in 50 years of photography! I was lucky to purchase a used version 2 of this VR lens, apparently the VR has been improved a little and it focuses closer. I am very pleased with my initial tests. VERY SHARP AND LIGHTWEIGHT

A go to daily lens
I am always a bit dubious about buying second hand lenses, but this one is superb. The sellers description was spot on, accurate and exactly as it was described. The lens is really smooth, and has a nice feel to it. It also has the added attraction of the VR capability. I have yet to test how good this is, but as i have several Nikon lenses, I have no doubt that this will add to the quality of the photo's. It isn't a huge lens, but i have no doubt this will probably get the most use. I think this will end up as my GO TO lens, for the majority of my picture taking. Great little Nikon Lens
Not the best Nikon SLR lens but necessary lens. Works great in good light. I own more expensive Nikon lenses,- but keep going to stock lens for every day use. EASY TO USE
Top quality zoom, compared to my 35mm, almost as good, sharp and my only gripe is the 55mm filter size as all my others are 52mm, so why did Nikon have to change it?
