Shopping with Rare Waves on eBay allowed me to purchase both Warren Zevon radio broadcasts in one friendly package... Great individual quality recordings - without DJ interruptions - cover the beginning and mid-point of Zevon's career. The first contains personal favourites such as Mohammed's Radio and an achingly beautiful version of "Desperado's Under The Eaves" whilst The Stone Pony broadcast includes the classics "Lawyers, Guns & Money", "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner" and "Werewolves of London" alongside newer compositions from the Sentimental Hygiene ("Boom, Boom Mancini"), Transverse City ("Splendid Isolation") and Mutineer ("Seminole Bingo") albums. All tracks on the latter benefit from Zevon's stripped-down acoustic interpretation in front of a partisan New Jersey crowd. Two albums for under GBP 10.00 represents terrific value and provides a poignant reminder of a just how talented a singer-songwriter Warren Zevon was and how much he is missed...
