A Great Live Album That Captures the Feel of Concerts Well
This is put together from various Live performances to create a good representation of their concerts. The band is from Philadelphia and has released many studio albums but for live you have only this or have to hunt around the internet. They were at Glastonbury in 2023 and the BBC caught and broadcast the most famous track 'Under The Pressure' A great CD to have if you like their complex music which in some ways seems to look back at Pink Floyd. The CD quality is good but the cover with dark on dark is very hard to read without a bright light. Also has a poster.

Definately a 'live' band . Find this album !
Good sampler of the bands output and live performance. I prefer their live work, studio albums are good but they are definitely a live band . sound and energy shown during live performances shine thru on this record/cd. checkout their live stuff on the Tube , especially 'under the pressure. Drummer is magnificent.

A good live band
I came across 'The War on Drugs' for the first time earlier this year when I heard 'Red Eyes' on the radio. Like all bands, there are strong tracks and those not so good. I chose this album because they are obviously a good live band and it contains 'Red Eyes' (essential for me) and several other excellent tracks - 'An Ocean in between the Waves', 'Pain', 'Eyes to the Wind', and 'Under the Pressure'. As these were live recordings it does mean the tracks are longer (but, crucially, not overlong), which here means there is more of the music which, I feel, mostly enhances each particular song. Whether I look at their other CDs I'm not so sure; the track 'I don't live here anymore' is fine but seems to denote a more mellow direction and, from what I've heard to date, the rest of the album is not so strong. They are at their best when they are rocking - the drummer is a particular stand-out. I can forgive the band introductions, 'everybody', as it comes in at well over an hour. The sleeve is pretty rubbish, but then again I don;t listen to the sleeve! A worthwhile introduction to this band.
