Drew Barrymore plays Josie Geller, a mousy sub-editor at the Chicago Sun-Times who's offered a chance at reporting by going back to high school undercover to find out what the kids are really up to. Unfortunately she dresses like a geek and is ostracised by everyone, apart from Aldys. She develops a crush on her English teacher, Sam Coulson, in spite of the forbidden nature of teacher/ student relationships. Things start to look up when her brother Rob shows her how to be cool.
