Drama set on Europe's front line at Christmas, 1944. A young platoon sergeant heads a small squad of inexperienced American soldiers whose orders are to report on German troop movements. Instead of enemy resistance, they find a German platoon who are just as confused and disillusioned as they are themselves. The Germans want nothing more than to surrender, but the vague truce they reach leads ultimately to tragedy.
