A must for all scone lovers

A wonderful find for baking cooks, this versatile and compelling book has every type of scone you can imagine. The point I was very taken with is that the author also writes a page to follow where the scone originates, all National trust places of history. This book is excellent value for money and is already being used to the maximum.

Great recipes. Short cooking times great tasting scones

The book is good quality but I find the cooking times far too short for the scones to cook thoroughly. Also the size of the scones is enormous, so I make them smaller and get twice as many that way. The rhubarb and ginger ones are beautiful but definitely use fresh not tinned rhubarb.

  • Great recipe book

I bought this as a present because my mum had seen this in the shops. She was delighted with it and liked it even more when she saw the info on each page about different national trust places.

A wonderful book, I never knew that scones could be so exciting..not just jam and cream .Some really amazing combinations. Also, the bonus of the history of the National Trust properties. Thank you Sarah Clelland for such an interesting read......even my husband is going to make some of the scones! Best Wishes. Claudette Hepworth

  • A new light on scones.

Such a good book for anyone interested in scone making. A wide variety of recipes, non of them taxing. Another beautiful book from the National Trust. Categories are: classic, sweet, chocolate, savoury, fruity and festive. Recipes such as salted caramel and apple, goats cheese, pear and walnut, raspberry and white chocolate and Christmas pudding. All recipes are accompanied by the national trust responsible for the recipe and some history. Highly recommend.

  • Inspiring little book

I’m not one for baking but my friend leant me her book and I came home and was so excited that I made cheese, bacon & onion scones. It’s such an inspirational book that I wanted my own because there are some great “curious crumbs of history” to read too. I can’t wait to read through and make more tasty scones.

  • Bit disappointed

Will try some of the recipes but none have actually inspired me. There isn't one I have looked at that I have said, "must try that" Such a high proportion of the recipes all add eggs. We, my husband and myself, think adding eggs makes the scones a bit more like cake, but.... I will try and see if I change my mind.
