This book describes 40 easy-to-moderate circular day walks, grouped by area: Northeast coast and the Broads; South Norfolk, the Yare and the Waveney; North Norfolk and coast; Central Norfolk and Breckland and West Norfolk and Fens. Each walk is described step-by-step, illustrated with 1:40K OS map extracts and packed with historical, geological and other information about the landscape the route passes through. The Fenland region of Norfolks far west is flat and low-lying, as are the marshes and waterways of the Broads in the east, but between these two extremes there is a great deal of topography going on. The county is far more varied than most outsiders imagine, with several distinct and unique landscapes. Starting with the positives, this book opens up a lot of walks that i would never have otherwise known of. The majority of walks are in great locations and really demonstrate the diversity of Norfolks landscapes and nature. We have seen so much wildlife and very rarely see more than a few other people on the walks. As other reviewers have mentioned, the book desperately needs updating in some areas, but in others are just plain wrong. We’ve had an instruction to turn left when the map ( and path clearly shows a right turn), we’ve had signs from farmers saying “ignore the book, go back and turn right”, as well as street names being incorrect or non existent. The sheringham/beeston regis walk would be a good example, where the walk is claimed to be 5 miles and actually ends up being 8! Some of the sections are really detailed unnecessarily and others are too vague where more detail is required. Despite this i would recommend the book as we have enjoyed doing the walks, but you have to use a lot of your own initiative ( and google maps). Use the book as a starting point/ rough guide rather than a comprehensive guide. If a new version with updates where released i would be happy to purchase again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Book Needs Completely Updating
Did several walks but gave up as so out of date. Foots paths no longer there, or been moved, and directions don't make sense. Only one walk was 100% accurate. Others we'd get half way round and then have to turn round and retrace our steps. Would not recommend.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
