Before opening the hood, make sure there is enough space on the right side of the vehicle. Slowly lift the hood and tilt it to the right until the leather strap is taut. Now, sit down as follows: Swivel the seat up, turn the steering slightly to the right, place your right foot in the middle of the vehicle, take a seat, put your left foot in, put both feet forward. Now support the slanted side frame ears with both hands and let the seat swivel forward (source: Messerschmitt operating instructions). An instruction manual to help you get in properly would probably be unthinkable today, although if you consider that in America you need instructions for opening a bottle of champagne...
