  • What A Letdown.

The only illustrations by the new artist are on the outside or the frontispiece. The rest are Tenniel's that may well have come from the first edition - the one that was quickly replaced at the time because the reproduction of his work was so substandard. No hint of this is given in the ads I have seen, Sir John is not mentioned. The non-Tenniel pictures are innovative and obviously sell the book, prior to it being opened. The format of the book is very reasonable. What a shame that a possible winner has turned out to be a sad loser.

  • A good cheering read

Amazing read. Don’t know what has put me off reading it for so many years. I’m 75 now and smiling every time I turn the page. Sometimes laughing out loud. I do realise it is a satirical work but on the simple level it’s brilliant too and so funny. Alice’ thought are key to the story - this you don’t get on a film.
