A WELCOME ADDITION TO THE CHRONICLES
Another volume in the VAMPIRE CHRONICLES is always welcome. However, having reached page 98, there is only one character which has got my attention. Also, I find the chapter-devoted-to-one-character approach piecemeal. Some may like it for the way in which Rice will weave together the different threads, but at the moment I am not convinced; it seems as if the story is being padded out. But this is true of most present day fantasy literature. We all know that one author spent half a dozen pages describing three teenagers in a tent moving around a muddy field!
