I’ve been reading Oor Willie and the Broons since I️ learned to read in The sixties. My grandmother (Nana) was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada as a child with her family. She found a newspaper store on the Danforth in Toronto that imported the annuals and would give them out to some of her 34 grandkids (1 per family. She had 9 kids herself). These are familiar characters to me and I️ enjoy seeing how they’ve changed over the years. The retro editions let me see what they did in the early years and during WW2.

Wouldn't say it was a "compelling" book, but it will certainly be very nostalgic for my husband when he eventually receives it as a gift.
