A snapshot of rural life 100 years ago. Utterly compelling ; spare beautiful descriptions and the world through the eyes of a naive gentle man . Having read this trilogy myself, I have so far bought it for 11 friends. So enjoyable, and knowledgeable. Being country born and bred, his descriptions bring you into the story so much, you feel the breeze and smell the surroundings with the subject, teaching you many old country ways. Just fabulous.
