That the tearooms of Moffat can be busy and brisk on a wet Wednesday in February or any other day in any other month demonstrates the perennial popularity of the town with visitors. Although the resident population is modest there can be few Lowland Scots who have not visited Moffat. After an early history of conquest, invasion, inter-clan rivalry and religious persecution a mineral well was discovered and the town settled down to become the douce, well-ordered destination of quiet enjoyment amongst stunning scenery that it remains today. This illustrated history comprises a select choice of more unusual photos of the town and its environs including images of the closed station. The illustrations are accompanied by the local author's detailed and knowledgeable captions.
