Some original ideas and details but not in keeping with other books
There is a series of Dinotopia books written for young adults. That series is lovely to read as they stories take place in a utopian society where everyone - eventually - behaves as they should, with respect for animals, elders and youngsters, and they are encouraging and positive. This book takes a different tack - it follows a band of pirates pillaging their way through a deserted countryside. There are a lot of details where Foster has obviously thought about how dinotopian society would work and they are great but the larger story dominates and is an awkward and for me unwelcome clash with the ethos of dinotopian books. Worth a read for completeness but I'm looking forward to other authors efforts.
