The danger of manufacturers listening to popular feedback
Lifelong devotee of Lypsyl - I can't survive without lip balm. Insert you vitamin deficiency diagnosis! Lypsyl had a unique almost candle wax-type product in a sea of competitors with small soft waxy-gel lipsticks. Now they've joined them with a 'you said............we did' mantra. Sad. 'Original' is actually new recipe - completely different. A re-branding coincides with the apparent end to a period, when the availability of Lypsyl contracted to the point where it was essentially unobtainable/unavailable on the high street, save for random independent local chemists (in the UK). What's up with that, supermarkets, Superdrug and BOOTS didn't sell it? Either there's a conspiracy here, extremely bad management, or a corporate buy-out? What remains is an excellent product, but now it's just like every other brand - bland. 'Boots Own' brand is now the best I can find to replicate the hard candle-wax consistency of genuinely ORIGINAL Lypsyl. Sad day for someone who's bought this product, and it's strawberry and mint variants for 40 years. How about a 'Lypsyl CLASSIC' retro product to keep previous hard-wax devotees happy.........? It's as good as the rest and better than most, but it no longer differentiates itself.
