Klipsch RF-7 II - Everything you want in a tower speaker, and more!
Klipsch RF-7 II are everything I imagined from both the excellent online reviews and my Best Buy (store) hands on demo. They play delicate and crisp at low volumes, power and head room to spare when you want to crank them up. Wow wow wow, they will amaze you with clean "in your face" but NON-harsh horn sound. A very clean hi-fidelity sound that makes you always think they are NOT border-line clipping/distorting. I love that headroom feel from the sound and at near rock concert sound levels. That's impressive.
On the RF-7 II's having "enough bass, and you don't need a subwoofer" reviews?. I kindly disagree. Well, if you're use to a sub like I was, there is no going back basically. If I'm watching something basic, I don't flip them on, but putting in a Blue Ray of let's say Toto's 35 yr reunion tour?... Subs are a must!. I purchased 2 Klipsch 12" powered subs, I was going to go for the 15's, but they combined with the other Klipsch's would of been a bit too much. Like why put it in your system if the volume knob is only going to be at 25% up?. A small 'working' or moving woofer is better, more air movement in my mind vs. some slight vibration which is just more vibration-boomy IMO. Yes, I like "punch" or basically my jeans pant legs moving back and forth when in concert listening mode. Feel it baby! ...is my motto, and you should see the reaction on my guests faces when they get a shot of my whole system, center featured by my 82" Samsung SUHD TV.
I also highly recommend the Klipsch RP-450C center speaker to compliment your FR-7's. You will be amazed at this 'system' and how each component compliments each other.
If there is any 'bad' in the RF-7 II's?; it's probably the weight of each speaker. At least for some users anyways. I'm 6-4, 240 lbs and had no problem "bear hugging" the speaker boxes on into my home theater room. When un-boxed, they display a nice massive tower look, but no too gaudy by any means. Fit-n-Finish is superb!. I have a large room with tall vaulted ceilings, so I could actually put another set of RF-7's up on top of the existing floor standing ones. Now that would look impressive and I can't even imagine the room fill I would get with double sets! hmmmmm!? :)
And No, I don't work for any products mentioned^ or sell any electronics period. Just a long-time hi-fidelity user and a fan of the higher-end Sound & Video equipment.
