An extremely useful device - the ratchet feature is essential.
While the device little complicated to assemble, in terms of connecting it to the pole, this is very easy to use once complete. I simply had to place the hook over the branch that I wanted to lop, pull the string a few times and the branch was set free. If the branch does not fall of its own accord, the hook can be used to tug the branch down from wherever it got stuck. It is useful to start with the lower of the branches that you want to lop and work your way up.
I’ve got a very large bush and this lopper has enabled me to reach parts that have been aggravating me for years. No longer is the hedge too tall to trim. I wish that I had known that these were a thing years ago.
The pole telescopes down for storage. There is a sharp looking saw attachment that I did not use. Sometimes the string catches around other branches or one of the nuts and has to be jiggled free. Occasionally the string comes off one of the wheels and needs to be freed. The string handle is perhaps the only part of the design that could be improved but it is good enough. I would suggest wearing gardening gloves.
This is a big yes from me. If you are comparing this pole lopper with other pole loppers, look out for the ratchet mechanism. They don’t all have such a mechanism. This one does. You will benefit from this feature.
