Item works as advertised! Lots of instructions online how to set this up with google voice. 1-10 on setup w google voice? 8 how to "port" your existing HOME phone number a little bit harder. Google voice will give you an area code specific number or port a mobile phone number easily (port means to move a phone number). You best have a solid high speed cable or dsl line (not dsl lite). Also if you have a wireless router or non wireless router and it has 'QOS' priority set that on for whatever port you plugged your obi unit into on your router. If you have pnp 'plug and play' enabled you dont need to worry about tcp ip port forwarding if you dont, then you will need to make a rule for port 10000 (also note: some VPN software cisco for instance also uses port 10000 so be aware) one application may need to be changed to another portRead full review

You spend $35 to $50 on eBay, setup a gmail account, then get one of their free phone numbers ... the OBI software is easy to navigate and mate it with the gmail phone number. Now, instead of people having to go through the switchboard, they can call right to my desk. On top of that, if I don't answer, I have gmail voice setup so it switches to my cell.

Bought this in order to experiment with voice-over-IP (VOIP). At the price point, it has a great feature set and is relatively easy to configure (the VOIP supplier had explicit directions.

Works great, very happy with it. Note that while this does not have wifi, as long as you get a cordless phone and a second charger for that phone (i.e. separate from the base station which will be plugged into wherever the router has to go), you'll be good. Note that Google Voice no longer works on this older model and its not supported by the manufacturer, but that's irrelevant as long as you're using it as a VOIP router.

No-Longer Supported and Will NOT work with Google Voice! Works fine on SIP with other providers like localphone but it will NOT work with Google Voice even with the Crown Sourced firmware update: www obifirmware com

Doesn't work with Google Voice any more, but works pretty well as a remote phone jack for my Obi200 (using one of those "Smart TV Wifi Repeaters") and cost a lot less than one of those old RF-based remote phone jacks.

I am using it with Callcentric as my service provider and it works perfectly. I can be a challenge to configure it, and it needed a firmware update to work with Obitalk, so if you are technically challenged, then maybe this isn't for you. Callcentric has instructions on their site on how to configure the device and their support is very good and responsive.

One of the best ATA's on the market. Great for the experienced tech heads, and easy to configure

Unable to configure this device for Google Talk. Obitalk no longer supports this equipment. Third party service provider no longer supports this equipment. My only recourse is to buy a more recent model or do without.
