This hole cutter seems pretty good. I've used holesaws for decades but sometimes don't have one of the right diameter so decided to try this adjustable cutter. So far it has cut some very neat and accurate holes in plywood for me. I haven't tried it cutting large diameters yet and am expecting to have to find out what cutting speeds and pressures to use, very big holes in wood might be beyond the capacity of an ordinary domestic drill but we'll see! One thing I would say is to clamp the work firmly and ensure the cutter screws are properly tightened. Also keep your hands and other items clear of the revolving horizontal bar. All in all a good tool at a great price

This simple tool looks the perfect cost effective solution for large holes, and it is, providing you either have a fixed bench drill to hold the cutters, or you are strong! So far I've only cut 100m holes in MDF - easy .. .well yes, but it can easily go wrong. The instructions tell us to hold the work piece on the floor with our foot ... er NO. Grip the workpiece firmly in place onto a bench or table, with 'blind wood' pad underneath to take the central drill hole. Use a powerful hand drill vari-speed and start very slowly, learn to keep the tool perfectly vertical - not easy by hand. Then speed up to about 100rpm and slowly cut through the wood, just more than half way. Turn the workplace over and start from the other side used using the same central hole. Watch as you break through, as the whole assembly can spin off the table and cause real damage. It must be seriously well held down. You've been warned !!!!!Read full review

I got this cutter to cut sixteen 40mm holes in 8mm MDF floor strips and it did the job. However the cutters are now very blunt but strangly I cannot find a source of new ones? So I can only give this tool four stars, with a source of replacement cutters it would definatly earn five stars as it cuts a neat hole quite quickly but follow the instructions carefully. Avalability of different cutters for hard materials would make this tool super! The centre drill was not sharpened correctly on my sample (one cutting surface the angle was reversed) so had to drill the hole first with my other drill, I am assuming I was just unlucky so quality control not good. This is NOT a professional tool but good value if you just have a few holes to drill... Instructions were understandable but poor English so follow the pictures! I did receive a small refund but would have prefered being able to purchase replacement cutters! Have not tried to re-sharpen the cutters yet... Martin G3OQD. Read full review

Have not fully tried this as yet, but when cutting a disc out from solid piece would like a spring loaded centre piece to hold disc in place when breaking through. The disc I require is not to have a drill hole in centre. I will make one eventually. Good tool and I found it easy to set up to cut a 5 inch disc. Thank you.

setting up the cutters was a bit fiddly, keep hands etc, clear when starting to cut as it can jump away from the surface .
