I purchased this reel hoping I would get more than what I bargained for and man, Daiwa did not disappoint! Hands down one of the best reels I have ever used for the $. I have been fortunate enough to use some of the best tackle on the market for saltwater fishing and can not believe what this little reel is capable of. Smooth drag, ample line capacity, and one of (if not the best) gear systems available with their Digigear technology. I liked it so much, that a month later I found myself picking up another one. Thank you Daiwa for hitting a home run!

I wanted to hold off on a review until I was able to fish with it. The reel came packaged brand new in great condition. While spooling it with 30 lb braid, I did need to add one of the spacers under the spool to get the line to lay correctly while reeling. I paired this reel with a 7' medium shimano Taveras inshore rod. This reel has performed VERY solidly! It has reeled in around 30 snook so far. The drag is very smooth and sounds good too! The drag allows for solid hook sets which are a problem with a lot of 3000 class reels. All in all, this reel is amazing! I will be replacing all my Penn Spinfishers with these reels as they start to need replacing! 5 star product HIGHLY recommend!

The Daiwa BG series is one of the highest quality reels for the money on the market. It is incredibly smooth with an even laydown of line onto the spool that enhances cast-ability. The 3000 is at the smaller end of this series that is great for freshwater and inshore fishing.

This reel is made for Saltwater. I use it for regular Surf Perch fishing. I spool it with 30# Braid and add a light Fluorocarbon leader to fish Sandworms, Grubs or Sandcrabs. Smooth operation and will cast a long ways, although not really necessary for my Perch encounters. Heartily recommended reel for quality and value.

Not going to say "for the money", this series of reel is too good for that. I have a rediculous number of reels from many different manufacturers & the BG series are simply amazing. I use them in salt as well as fresh water & have never had even the slightest issue with them. You will be thrilled with the quality

For the money you can't buy a better saltwater reel!!! A lil bulkier and heavier than Stradics but just as smooth and prolly more durable!! Just fishes 2 of these in St. Joe Bay and the gulf in the water and sand and they never got stiff, just rinsed them in the surf if they got sandy and kept on fishing for 10 days straight.

Buttery smooth reel. Will have to see how it holds up to saltwater use. Be aware BG runs a bit on the larger size. My stradic ci4 4000 is about the same as the Daiwa BG's 3000, so it's best to feel one if possible. Seller made buying a breeze. Most likely buying more in the future!

Awesome buttery smooth reel like it's reputation. Will have to test out the drag and hope its enough to stop em before the rocks. Will hopefully pick up a few more of these reels for the future.
