Received this a few days ago and have only just unboxed and set it up. The main plate is very flimsy. A very thin sheet of stainless steel over a cast Frame section which is located under the stainless plate. The machine is great value for money and I'm very impressed. Very heavy, which is good but there should be a better main plate as this will struggle to make the journey if used a lot. Something that will be useful to others is a modification I have made NOT to the planner however to a chopsaw stand I have purchased and modified as this is great if you work on your own..

As soon as I switched this on it, it makes a rattling noise, sounds like something is tight on this looked at blade area and seen that the safety catch on left had side doesnt go all way in to allow the blade to spin freely. tried pushing the cover in as much as possible but still hasnt solved this problem, cant be bothered sending it back and going through all the nonsense that goes with waiting for repairs etc , just bought another Maetabo, works great.

If you’re thinking about buying a plane,it’d be difficult imagining anything better than this. This thing is powerful and leaves your workpiece flat and smooth. The finish is as good as a razor sharp, quality hand plane produces. There are two downsides, this thing is really heavy and it produces masses of shavings really fast. The weight is probably necessary to keep the machine stable. Had this a couple of weeks now, love it,can’t recommend it highly enough.

A good Planer giving me good results on Pine and Oak thus far. Table in/out feeds are a little short and this causing some snipe. A really noisy machine. Heavy machine so, not so easy to store away for me. The shavings it produces are large and long. This meant that my Dust Cyclone inlet tube became instantly clogged. Decided to leave the Planer's Dust Collection port off and just trap the shavings on my work surface as they exit the rear of the Planer. So, a bit messy.

I have had this planer for a few months now. It works very well. All the work I do is very light and the maximum thickness that I work with is about 3 or 4 cm. It produces a very good finish and constant thickness. The only problem that I have found is when I am working on very thin pieces, less than 1.5 centimetres. It's difficult to wind it down to these thicknesses. Also I only use it for periods of 1/2 hour to 1 hour so it doesn't have a chance to overheat.
