A TV series about the great Polish scientist MARIE CURIE (Jane Lapotaire) who discovered radium, at great personal cost. Pierre, her husband, died in 1906, and she continued with their research, against opposition. Marie was awarded the Nobel Prize twice and died of anemia in 1934.

A brilliant adaptation.
I have been wanting this series for many years as I saw it originally in Black and White. Miss Lapotaire is absolutely brilliant in this. I have seen her on stage and she always brings a great empathy to her performances. A powerful performance but by todays standards of cinematography one has to give a certain leeway.
