Solid State Drives
Solid state drives (SSDs) are available in varying capacities, from smaller 200GB drives to much larger 2TB ones. The solid state drive that you have installed will ultimately determine how much data you can store on your computer. The drive that you have will also depend on the connection that your computer has as well, being either SATA III, an M.2 or MSATA.
SSD Speeds
A solid state drive is able to write data much faster when compared to a HDD as it is able to locate and access data much quicker. The speed of the SDD will depend on the release, the brand of the drive and even the capabilities of the computer. An SSD combined with a good amount of RAM will mean that your computer functions at a very high level of efficiency. SSD units do tend to be smaller when compared to HDD units when installed into a computer, but function at a much higher level. SSDs also wear out over time, however, this depends on your how much you use your computer.
Durability and Specifications
One of the biggest benefits of an SSD is that it has no moving parts. This means that if you drop your laptop or if you shake your computer it is much less likely to experience any damage. Another benefit of an SSD drive is that they can be made much smaller when compared to other types of drives. This is because there are no moving parts and they are practically noiseless. SSD drives do not need defragmenting over time because the way that it stores data is different to a HDD. It can also run on a more energy efficient level as well, making it one of the best options out there if you want a reliable performance from your computer.
