SynopsisWars were commonplace in medieval times. Lasting for centuries, the Crusades were a part of everyday life. With illuminated manuscripts and primary source images depicting medieval war, this book tells the story of how wars were fought during the Middle Ages. It covers combat, campaigns and sieges, attack and defense of castles, and how the longbow and earl firearms brought an end to the type of combat fought in the Middle Ages., A discussion of the tactics and technology of warfare during the Middle Ages, including the tradition of personal combat, the use of armor, castles-and-siege weapons, and the dominance of the mounted knight.
While it isn't quite what I had expected. This is a good introductory book for young readers. It will serve the purpose in some ways. It will also be a good introductory book for my great grandson when he's old enough. I'm in my seventies : so most of the content is material I'm familiar with. My Grandson is a big middle ages fan. It may be too basic for him; but I think it will be good for him to read to my Great Grandson.
