Buy the book and learn before you go to flight school
While this is not the current addition, the copy I got (for my own edification) was brand new, with an unopened CD in the back, which contains the FAA Federal Aviation Regulations and practice tests on it. This will be useful for practice and teaching oneself the fundatmental concepts before setting foot in a school, where learning all this for the first time will be considerably more expensive,and necessarily less complete.
