Runs at correct temperature.
I bought this stat for a 1998 Escort Cabriolet Ghia xr3i. 16V 1800cc engine. The stat I had in it was a colder stat as I figured as I ran it only in the summer might be the best option. Now I have to use it in the winter as daily driver VOR. The new stat did leak when I installed, the reason being that there is an indent at 12 o'clock on the stat housing for the small by-pass in the stat. The new rubber gasket was a tight fit around the stat and did not allow sufficient rubber to cover the indent. I put the old gasket on which was slightly bigger, and it sealed. The car now runs at exactly where it should, so running at the correct temperature. Do beware of this when fitting, a, to get the by-pass at 12 o'clock and b, to ensure the gasket will cover the indent in the stat housing.
