GATES POWERGRIP TIMING BELT KIT / CAM BELT KIT - K055491XS There are a few manufacturers timing belts and or timing kits that are generally considered to be great quality. The timing kit I purchased had a genuine, gates belt, with a Japanese NTN manufactured roller bearing, and a non descript hydraulic tensioner, which I will assume is a genuine Gates tensioner owing to these other identifiable components included.. Having purchased and installed Gates timing belt kits on previous vehicles, throughout 30 years and from informed online sources such as vehicle forums and reviews, I and others trust their quality. (1) - Timing belts, and ancillary belts; have a use by expiry date. Don’t be tempted to use an out of date belt, check the manufacture date on the box and or production data on the belt. use by date is normally between 6 - 8 years provided it is stored in the correct temperature and humidity. According to the manufacturers the belts decay or rot, the bonding and glues begin to deteriorate et. (2) - Some timing belt & other repair kits, are being supplied with components swapped out with alternative brand parts by sellers, read the small print for the sale. For example a Sachs brand clutch repair kit, supplied with a Valeo pressure plate, which failed after 15000 miles, costing me almost £2000. Check the brand markings and manufacturers part number on the provided items, some parts are now being supplied without brand markings, and or parts number stamping data. Equivalent OE or OEM parts provided as alternatives, are usually cheaper if you bought it from that brand manufacturer in the first place, they also dont usually have the same reliability or warranty or lifetime. (3) - Over recent years reputable parts manufacturers have started placing mixed manufactured origin components in their repair or parts kits. Gates, Febi Bilstein, Boge, Continental, Mahle, Sachs, NTN, SKF, and many others have spent decades earning a reputation for producing exceptional quality parts, with stringent quality control and the highest fabrication tolerances that will only fail on very rare occasions. Sadly, and increasingly this is no longer the situation, almost all of these brands have been outsourcing the manufacture of their parts to be made in other countries. After in-depth research and raising this concern with one manufacturer the answer to this enquiry was.. It is cheaper, however is made to the same standards as over the previous years when manufactured in Germany, USA, Japan, et. Provided it is not a clone or forged part, we still have great quality control at our new manufacturing facilities in country A, B, or C. These parts are still being sold however by the official brand manufacturer "Made in Germany, USA, Japan, et. When examined however, they are clearly marked made in country, A, B, or C. The answer to this question was, the parts are actually assembled in Germany, Japan; so this is accurate, to clarify this point references the product was placed in the official packaging in this country, but was not manufactured in. From my perspective, manufactured and assembled are two separate circumstances, and this is highly misleading behaviour.
