Very impressed with my first Synergy product
I bought this for a client with a small office and a few computers for backing up their documents and files. I can say I was very pleasantly surprised with the interface (done through the web portal it provides) and I'm really impressed with the feature set. It came with RAID configuration and the ability to see the health of the IronWolf drives I'd installed. The backup software came included and was relatively simple to setup and configure each PC with the client app provided. The unit even has it's own version of an app store to add or remove functionality. Overall I'm very pleased and will definitely buy Synergy products again!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A must have if you like technology.

these small boxes have come a long way
A smart, lightweight, quiet NAS box. You have to put some disks in it - I used some 3TB WD Greens from a few years ago - and when you have, it starts up and waits for you to set up the software. If your network has any other machines already on it then you will need to ignore Synology's instrcutions, and get your DHCP server page up on screen first. When the Synology starts it grabs a free address, which should show up on the DHCP management screen. Point a web browser to that address and the Synology wizard will start, and walk you through downloading the latest updates and setting up the services you want. For me that's iSCSI disk - I got bored with all NAS boxes that misrecord the security information on files that come from Apple Macs, so now i use iSCSI targets and a Windows host to store all my cross-platform data. I discovered today that this box will act as a wifi base station if you put the right USB dongle on it - there's a long list on the Synology website.
