OH GUERLAIN!! What a christmas 2017 let down!
Im I die hard collector, from the 1982 very first pot to the ones today. This the Guerlain release 'Holiday 2017' in my opinion, is a let down Every year, Guerlain have skimped on something, so much so, that the days of the lush luxurious HUGE amount of balls, the rich heavy and sturdy packaging, its overall presentation, is becoming history This, 'gold pearls of powder' has got cheap on me! First of all, the pot and its box do not match, Usually golden pots or metallic ones usually have a black boxing with a lining of red or contrast shade. This gold pot, resembling a bee hive, demands a black or gold box. this one is presented in a pastel pink box Odd mis-match! Now onto the container. .... Its oval, like an egg, with ridges and, it screws off like the snowglobe release last season . But unlike the snowglobe, which is heavy, and lush with a mirror in lid, this is cheap, plasticky, with no mirror The sponge is just, urm, a black sponge nothing puffy with ribbons. The only good part is that the balls themselves deliver a very strong (stronger than usual) violette scent which is delicious. Its a shame collectors have to accept and pay for what they are given, which I think is really too highly priced now, as it seriously lacks quality and luxury
