  • Don't fit without reading up on proper polyurethane bush fitment first.

The steel sleeve (should be assembled as a crush tube) in this instance was too short (approx 13mm when assembled), meaning that the suspension bolt could not be torqued to a specified amount, the tube then being free to slide up and down on the bolt, causing metal to metal wear and uneven wear of the polyurethane bush. If torqued to tightly, the bolt also would distort the chassis sub structure. I therefore machined one off sleeves to the correct length, and fitted the bush which otherwise had no problems. Obviously this may not be an option for most people so would recommend purchasing a bush from a more reputable poly bush manufacturer. The seller I purchased from had little knowledge of poly bush fitment and therefore wouldn't accept that there was a problem, stating that they had sold many without any complaint. I would imagine there are a fair few vehicles driving round with the bolt un-torqued and the bolt slowly wearing away with no outwardly visible signs.
