This is my third solar powered air pump I've bought for a small wildlife pond over the last four years. This is by far the best of the three. For a small pond it is excellent. It provides intermittent pulses of air: 5 secs on, 12 secs off. On first impression this doesn't seem enough air, but it keeps the aeration going for longer, and being a water scientist I checked the dissolved oxygen content in the pond using a dissolved oxygen meter, and the levels of dissolved oxygen were high. The air pump has a replaceable air filter and a replaceable rechargeable battery. The small sponge air filter is critical for the longevity of the pump. So it is not completely fit and forget, but this is a good feature. The instructions do recommend that the pump is brought indoors over winter. However, after feeding the cable to the small solar panel through some conduit under a flower border, this isn't going to happen. However, I have ensured that the pump is well protected from the elements. So far, I am very happy with the performance of the pump. No it isn't going to work on dull days, but it works for longer compared with other pumps I have had, and is much better quality.Read full review

I ordered one of these Balgdon liberty solar air pumps to add some airation to my pond, it arrived and I set it all up in the evening when I got home from work , the next day was bright sunny day solar panel was in direct sunlight but the 5 seconds pulse just isn't enough really it's very low powered and doesn't really do anything for the pond and the batteries don't get enough charge from days sun to run all night. I definitely wouldn't recommend this pump to anyone just buy a mains operated one if you want you pond to benefit from it at all.

only had it a few days, but it works well enough for my small pond and its solar powered so cost me nothing to run. It has a back up battery which continues to work well into the evening , and today its raining and cloudy and its still working !!

I bought it despite many poor reviews knowing that it was a low powered intermittent oxygenator which was exactly what I wanted to increase the oxygenation of my medium sized pond without disturbing the wildlife. I found it rather expensive but with a 3 year warranty - so if it lasts that long it will be good value for money. Pros: Well made, solid, sturdy, very quiet (unlike others which buzz like loud, demented mosquitoes), good length of power cable and air lines, easy to set up, dark green in colour so easy to hide amongst the plants around the pond. Cons: limited positioning when using the wall bracket so it is not neccesarily easy to set at the optimum angle. It is just what I needed, it suits my purpose admirably; but if you are expecting a continuous, fierce stream of air bubbles covering a large area this is not for you. Read full review

Absolutely fantastic, as with all Blagdon products this aerator is extremely well made, works straight out of the box and set up in minutes, I have a small 9 x 7 ft x 2ft deep pond and there is more than enough cable and airline ( x2) to access the areas needed, I opted not to use the airline floats as recommended, I will be ordering another one as these are excellent for making sure your pond is holding on to dissolved oxygen during the summer months, With Blagdons build quality and at an excellent price from the seller you can't go wrong.
