Folland Gnat TR1 XM693 by Aviation 72 AV7222006 in 1/72 Scale.
Folland Gnat TR1 XM693 is the latest tandem seat Folland Gnat TR1 to appear from the direction of Aviation 72. However this time there is a major quibble over the description of this colour scheme as 1990s Livery as I am here to assure you that it isn't! The silver with yellow stripes does signify that this Gnat TR1 was in use for fast jet training but during the 1960s as opposed to the 1990s. By 1974 the RAF were replacing this colour scheme with their first red and white trainer aircraft livery which survived for the next twenty years without modification. Also by 1982 the final Folland Gnat TR1s in service with the RAF (including the Red Arrows aircraft) had been replaced by the BAe Hawk T1 trainer. Despite this quibble XM693 is the latest in the Avation 72 Folland Gnat dynasty to feature everything which is associated with this manufacturer: A high quality diecast readily-assembled model which IMHO is a must have for collectors.
